I don't know if you guys can help me, but Apple Discussions hasn't answered so I turn here. I can still connect to the internet using my Ethernet, but i can't share the connection. Sharing Ethernet to AirPort
You are trying to use your Mac to create a wireless connection for other devices, is that correct? Or are you trying to connect your Mac wirelessly but this is not working (although you can connect through Ethernet)?
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yes, I am trying to create the wireless connection. I used to be able to do that, but then it dropped. I tried many things, and it didn't work. I got another Mac, but that one is broken now, so that brings me here.
OK. While it's definitely possible to do so, do you mind if I ask why you are trying to use your Mac to create a wireless network through Internet Sharing, as opposed to using a wireless router for this? If you do not have a wireless router, we can provide more information on how we can upgrade your modem to a wireless modem, and with many of our Internet plans this would be a no-cost upgrade.
I never got a router because i only need the wifi when other people are here. My house is a dead zone for cell service, so it's not that important that i get a router. And my internet....... SO SLOW! I'm pretty sure that it would cost me to get a router.
We could always take a closer look at your package to see what options we would have available to include a wireless modem. Let me know if you'd like me to send you a direct message for that. (and if your Internet seems slow, we can check that at the same time)
In regards to using Internet Sharing on your Mac, nothing special would be required on our end to allow that to work. If you have a connection established through Ethernet to your Mac already, the steps to enable Internet Sharing would be (these steps are assuming you are using the latest Mac OSX Mavericks, for older operating systems the steps may be slightly different):
Assuming that your wireless network (Airport) card is functioning, that should be all you need to do!
