Is the password problem with email local or is it wide? I called in on chat and they said there was problems. Since then my wife has got email but mine still says invalid password
Actually we just had confirmation here that there is indeed an email issue at our end right now. We're aware of it and working on it. Everything should be back to normal as soon as possible.
If your wife's email address is working then chances are there isn't a wide spread issue. The first thing I'd suggest trying at your end is to update your email password through the Customer Centre web site: http://secure.shaw.ca. Once logged in there, click on Internet / Manage Email & Webspace. In there you can actually reset the password on your email account to make sure it is up to date.
Cant log in there also I know I was able to do so before
I wish I had kept a copy of the info given to me on "Chat" I got the indication that there was password problems all or not I don't know
Yeah, I understand. Maybe we can get a mod over here to have a closer look at the problem for you. I can help you out a bit more to try and get logged in to the Customer Centre if you'd like to continue trying that.
I was on Shaw Webmail earlier now when I try I get "502 Bad Gateway"
i'm still having problems sending mail says shaw server doesn't recognize my email address. i can send if i choose my gmail account.
If you are using port 587 with SSL on, the username is the first part of your email address before the @ symbol,
You also need to have gone through Webmail Preferences - General - Mobile devices and make sure the Check Password passes.
If you are using port 25 no SSL for the outgoing server, no username/password should be required.
i'm using apple mail and haven't changed any of my settings for years when out of the blue a week or so ago i got the security certificate message and the problem sending emails. so it doesn't seem to me that the issue is my settings.
after long call w/shaw it's working properly now. turns out shaw changed the name/url of the mail sending server some mos ago and i guess my computer stopped compensating for some reason.
502 Bad Gateway means that a backside server at Shaw cannot communicate with the frontside server. Only some accounts are affected by this.
THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM ON ANY OF OUR SYSTEMS AT HOME. It is only a problem with Shaw's servers, internally. Don't bother trying to re-enter your usernames, passwords, or change your systems at home....like I did. Waste of our time. I did eventually Google "502 Bad Gateway" to realize it wasn't a problem with my computer.
