Above trouble began suddenly. Browser (Firefox) is OK and has no trouble loading links on other webpages. Running Windows 7. Can anyone help?
Hi there mortmain,
That definitely sounds like spyware, or some sort of malicious extension/add-on running in your internet browser. I'd recommend trying to start up Firefox in Firefox's safe mode, and see if you still have the same issue.

If the issue isn't replicated while you're in the browser's safe mode, then you know it's likely an add-on in the browser causing this, which you should be able to disable. I would also recommend getting in touch with Norton directly and seeing if they're able to help you manually remove this, as links automatically directly elsewhere is generally not a good sign.
Terribly sorry to hear that! When you say the links are not loading, do you mean that the link isn't showing up in the email message at all? Or when you click on the link in the email, it doesn't do anywhere? Even though links are working outside of Webmail on your Firefox browser, I'd recommend trying Webmail in another browser just to rune that out, as it might be a plugin not loading correctly in the browser itself. Please let us know.
When I click on the link it takes me to a blank page. In the meantime I checked the web addresses of the links and found they are all preceded by a long string of characters beginning with "click.icptrack" etc etc. I found out this is some kind of marketing program that will produce pop-up ads. I haven't received any pop-ups (running Adblock) but I'd like to get rid of this mess. Neither Norton 360 nor Malwarebytes has picked this up and as far as I can recall I haven't clicked on any weird links but who knows?
When I delete the string of characters up to the actual web address I can access the linked page. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you, Brayden. That solved the problem.
