It's gotta happen some time and the sooner the better, when are we going to see the availability of native IPv6 on residential Shaw?
IPv6 can be made available for business accounts, but at this time there are no details on future deployment for residential customers. This is definitely something that we're working towards providing though as we understand the benefit and the need to do so, just no ETA at this time.
How is the supply of IPv4 at Shaw? When will it run out?
What transitions solutions are going to be deployed (NAT, proxies, translation, etc.)?
I have no data on address exhaustion or how IPv6 will be launched unfortunately. When it's something that's closer to deployment we'll know more.
Should be stated it can be made available for non-cable business accounts...
Ethernet, T1+, Fiber.
Business cable-modem accounts don't have access to IPv6 yet either
Telus has started Carrier-Grade-NAT for some of their DSL customers, I dread the day that other major ISPs start as well (I know some smaller ones have already been doing this for years)
Telus and TekSavvy now have IPV6 now for general customers, so I'm guessing that that will place some pressure on Shaw to go forward with the rollout sooner than later.
As Matt had Mentioned in the original reply. It is available for business accounts and at this time, no details for residential accounts at least just yet.
**EDIT [Tony | Community Moderator]** We have taken a further look into this and have verified that we are currently not offering IPv6 for business or residential accounts. We do apologize for any for the incorrect information we have previously provided. There is currently no news on IPv6 for the time being. If we have any new developments on the availability of IPv6, we will have a public notice on our Community forum. Thank you for your time and patience.
