good evening, i have a question, any help is appreciated. how do i turn off the voice that describes the scene on the tv? i just all of sudden started, maybe the kid did it, but i dont know how to turn it off
That is descriptive video, not closed captions,
Which model of terminal do you have?
where would I find the model number?
shaw direct its one of those hd
Back/bottom? DSR### of some kind... But for Shaw Direct and how to turn that off, I won't know that answer, hopefully someone else after you post the model, will know.
If it's an HD receiver, that gives us two basic different types that it could be: a 5XX series (DSR 505 HD or DVR 530 HD), or the 6XX series (HDDSR 600, HDDSR 605, or HDPVR 630). The quickest way we can tell these apart is by determining whether it's a large silver unit, or a small black one, AND if it's a regular HD receiver, or if it records.
If it is one of the 6XX series, there is a shortcut to turn DVS on or off. To turn it on, press OPTIONS-4-1-4. To turn it off, press OPTIONS-4-1-2.
If it is one of the 5XX series, press OPTIONS-6-4-1. When you're in the "User Settings" menu, use the arrow buttons to scroll until you've highlighted "Off" under "Descriptive Video." When you've done that, scroll back to "Save" and press ENTER.
I hope this helps! Let us know if you need a hand with anything else.
I fixed my caption, just read my post.
On my "ancient" CRT-type TV, there's a setting for sound. It lets me pick Stereo, SAP and something else. If I have it set for SAP, I get the descriptive video. Maybe there's a similar setting on yours.
I was just on the phone with a techie from Shaw and fixed my. You turn the cable box off manually or with the remote but keep the TV ON. Press MENU on Shaw remote, it will display User Settings page on TV in black and white. You will see closed caption arrow and select DISABLE.
I had to turn the cable box on/off several times and it finally gave in to display the user settings so just be patient.
