Reset HD box, new batteries and channels won't change or if/when they finally do they only go to channel 4. Still paying for my HD box but this may be the THIRD remote I need ( or third HD Box!!) and I rarely use it and watch little t.v. Thank you.
Hi there corinne,
Oh no! Very sorry to hear you're having remote issues again. We can help you to get that working properly. Are you able to please try reprogramming the remote? Please see our How to program your Shaw remote control document for steps on how to set it up.
It's odd that it would only be changing to channel 4. Do you know which remote (based on the document above) that you have? If you have one of the Atlas style remotes, please make sure you press the white "CBL" button at the top of it before you attempt to change the channels, to signal to the remote that you would like to control the cable box.
I have the Champ remote ( even though the link you provided show both Champ and Champion as being the exact same until you click the link) I did the programming --- it isn't working. It is not unusual for the remote to only go to one channel. Last time it only went to channel 7 no matter what was pushed....menu, info, up / down. Just a heads up. So, it is now my remote, again??? TY.
I am sorry to hear that this is happening to you.
It may be that the box itself has stopped responding to the remote, it is rare but it does happen. The easiest way to fix this problem would be to unplug the power from your cable box for about 30 seconds. I am not sure if that is what you meant by Reset HD Box, but just wanted to clarify this as possible immediate solution.
Is the remote turning your television on and off still, or able to control the volume? That answer will let us know if the remote is not responding to the TV as well. We may need to reprogram the remote to the cable box depending on how it responds to your television.
Hopefully this helps please let us know if you need further assistance. We can assist with walking through reprogramming the remote if that is the case.
Yes, unplugging and waiting a few minutes is what I meant by resetting HD box. I do all the basic functions/ troubleshooting I find on Shaw support before I write here to inquire.
Thank you for doing those tests for us. The only other thing I can think is that it may be a power regulation issue. Is the cable box power plugged into a power bar or is it directly plugged into a wall outlet? If it is plugged into a power bar is there any way we could try bypassing the power bar and plugging the cable box directly into a wall outlet? After doing this please give the cable box a few minutes to start up. Then please try the remote and let us know if it is still non-responive.
If we're still having issues after that we may need to run some troubleshooting on our end.I am so sorry to hear that things are being difficult, hopefully we will get this all sorted for you! Have a good evening and I wish you luck.
I FINALLY got a ''reply'' button to click on. And, as a side note Shaw is not recognizing the very password/ account name I"ve been signing in with all night. Frustrating.
I can turn OFF the HD box with remote but not the Tv. Also, the Volume button doesn't work.
Sorry to hear that you're having issues using the Community forums. It seems that you've been able to log in now as you've been able to post this message. Do you have multiple TVs in the house? Are you able to try this remote on a different TV in the house to see if it works to change channels etc?
If you are able to power the cable box on/off using the remote, that means it should be programmed correctly and you should be able to change the channels and access the guide. Please let us know how testing the remote on another TV goes.
I have one HD box and one plain digital cable box on an old tv. The HD box remote can change channels on the other box, and volume. I reprogrammed remote according to an earlier post from Shaw. I unplugged and waited on the HD box, it still does not turn off TV or let me use volume button. What I ''should'' be able to do and what I can do is not matching. I want to turn tv off, use volume, change channels etc with my one remote.
I stand corrected! I got my two remotes mixed up. My apologies. The remote belonging to the HD box does NOT control volume on the other box ( standard digital) Nor shut off the TV. Thanks.
4 hours later and no help at all. One phone call and in finally getting thru the solution was simple: key in 0812 on the remote control. Shame on Shaw and good one the gentleman who answered the phone. I have to go thru this stuff about every 2 months. NOT COOL>
We do apologize for the delay in reply from us. We are definitely here to assist you and your message was missed in our inbox. We do appreciate you patience with us. Please let us know if you need further assistance.
