With the Hitron modem, if a device is on the 5ghz wifi, can that device access devices on the 2.4ghz side and vice versa?
If your device can pickup the 5 Ghz network, it should also be able to pickup the 2.4 Ghz network. If you device can pickup the 2.4 Ghz network, it does not mean that it will pickup the 5 Ghz network. It will depend on your wireless adapter you have as it must support 802.11a, 802.11g and 802.11n network modes to see the 5 Ghz network.
Yes, if you have a device that can do 5Ghz it should be able to use 2,4Ghz as well. It is your personal choice as to which one you would like to connect to. The 5Ghz will have less interference so people usually choose it if their device can connect. Hope that helps;
My question isn't about being able to switch between 2.4 and 5ghz. It is can a device on say 5 MHz access devices (printers, NAS, shared drives etc) that are running on the 2.4 ghz side of the network. I have some resources on my WIFI lan that can only run 2.4, but my laptop and iPhone are running on 5 ghz.
That would be on the same device so they should all communicate if some are on 2.4 and some are on 5.
