Hi. I have shaw cable with a pace pvr and a hd motorola. Adding another tv for bedroom. Can i get the dct700 and what would be the cost to me. Also, would i pay more on my monthly bill? ( i realize would not get HD with dct700).
The DCT700 is available for $78 through the Shaw website or less if you purchase from Craigslist, etc. If you go the latter route just make sure the equipment has been released from the previous owner's account.
Shaw - TV:Digital Box DCT700
thanks. Then I was misinformed when told that if I had shaw tv bundles that each household was allowed one free dct700 if they wanted it.
Sorry we didn't see this earlier. To clear this up, any household which doesn't already have a digital cable box and is within an area which is undergoing our digital network upgrade is entitled to a free rental cable box.
So if I did not have a shaw account or a digitial box i would not have been charged the $78.00 plus tax that came to $87.63. They had my account and I ask the lady but she said I had to pay. Also, notice I have a little flicker and audio drop on my pace pvr after hookup. I used the splitter shaw provided that didn't help so went and bought a nextech 5-2000mhz with power ports. (still have a slight problem).. You might want to check higher on the dct700 as they told me it was a promotion that was over.
Power port splitters are for satellite, if you care...
Thanks. Now what would be the better splitter to use. The one shaw gave me or this one. The one shaw gave showed -3.5db on each port. What I'am trying to do is go through all the recommendations by shaw to get a better picture. I know i can chat/call for them to do reset/boost but i like to do all the recommendations first.
-3.5 is normal for a 2-way splitter.
-3db is half (half the In sigal going to each Out-port) and .5 for the splitter's circuitry, if the splitter has failed, Shaw will replace it.
Shaw will provide splitters if you need them, what is wrong with your picture?
Thanks again. I going to keep the splitter i got now. (to me it cost alot and not knowing the merchant or merchandize see where i am going)
I'll try and keep it short.Got the dct700. Used a splitter so i can have the dct700 in bedroom and the pace pvr in living room. The dct700 works find. However, the pace pvr has a very slight flicker and a little audio drop(the best i can explain it).If you take the end of the cable and attach it to a contector to the tv loosely and shake it.If that makes sense. I would say this is very random. My wife is sick and right now goes from living room to bedroom to watch tv or record. She does not see the flicker to much and is not complaining to loudy. So i am trying to fix it as much as i can without interrupting her watching or recording. I have pretty much confirmed it has something to do with pace pvr for the following reasons:
1. wii- works fine through tv with comp cables;
2. blu-ray works fine with hdmi;
3. dvd works fine with hdmi; however, when watching tv through the dvd notice flickering.
I am hoping i will be able to do a chat in the morning to get a reset/boost.
If i wanted to post somthing to you on this forum is there a way to do it.
If you move the locations of the Motorola and Pace PVRs (all the connections are the same, so you should be able to just unhook them and reconnect them), does the problem continue?
If you remove the splitter, and connect the PVR without the splitter, does that fix the issue completely (if it continues after swapping the two PVRs)
Thanks. Had a chance to get shaw to reset this morning. Looks like that got rid of my problems. So I going to leave everything alone for now. Thanks again.
