Set up shaw email on my new ipad using the Exchange option, this worked for a few days but then email messages started disappearing from the Inbox - what is causing this?

I recently set up my new ipad email for Shaw using the Exchange option.   This worked for the first few days but afterwards the Inbox messages disappeared without me deleting them.   What causes this?
