Will this be released for the Apple TV? It would be nice not having to switch inputs back and forth between the shaw box and the Apple TV.
All video output will be blocked, so you wouldn't be able to view it on your Apple TV. You can find more here FreeRange TV - Frequently Asked Questions
Getting "unhandled error : 3321" after signing in on the app. Won't add the device saying something has gone wrong. Any idea what the problem might be?
Checked our known list of error codes, and don't see 3321 listed. Got a few questions for you so that we can bring this feedback to our team:
- is this happening on all devices that you try using the app, or only on one certain device?
-- if it is only happening on that one device, is the device rooted (Android) or jailbroken (iOS)?
- when you signed in, did you use a Shaw email account or My Account username and password? If you used either a Shaw email account or your My Account credentials, have you confirmed if they work when trying to sign on to Webmail or My Account?
Tried only one device (android), not rooted. I did sign in but afterwards the app said adding device and after a few seconds the error message popped up. My credentials work fine with webmail.
Thanks for the details gridiron
If you have other mobile devices, can you please try installing to see if you're seeing the same or any other error messages? Also, have you tried uninstall/reinstall to see if that makes a difference?
Just tried uninstalling/installing and the same thing happens. Don't have another device to try.
Hmm, strange one indeed. Not sure of the error code as it's not within our official documentation, so I would like to get your account information so that we can take a closer look and forward this off to the appropriate teams for investigation. I'll send you a private message shortly requesting for your account details; please check your Community Inbox shortly.
Turns out it was an adblocker that was causing the problem. Soon as I disabled it I had no problem connecting. Thanks again for the help.
FreeRange tv is meant to compliment a STB experience, not replace the viewing for TV's.
All content within the app today is available/discoverable within the set top box. Not to mention the delivery to set top boxes is at higher bitrates to ensure quality viewing for TV's.
Will a windows 10 app for FreeRange tv be offered?
Thank you for reaching out to us. Currently a Windows 10 app is not available. It is currently available only on iOS and Android only.

Do we know if there is a limit of devices can be connected? Like the Shaw Go Wifi?
There are a few limits. You can have up to 40 devices activated for use. You can have 2 devices streaming on your account at any given time and up to 5 can download programs for watching off the device.
Question was WILL there be a Windows app available.
Hello sandstrw and bataltab,
No word on this yet. We don't have any available information for any Windows app support currently.

there is no windows 10 app as already mentioned, however comcast does have a Web enabled experience that will be used in the future to allow devices that don't have a native app to experience Freerange (Ie laptops, computers etc).
Here is a great article that provides insite into x1 future plans this year
Shaw targets Telus with mobile app offering live TV, on-demand content - The Globe and Mail
While the news about the new Freerange TV service and app are great, the implementation of the service is terrible.
Why is only iOS and Android devices supported at launch, not even a web version is available. As a service, it should be available on all platforms, I should be able to use whatever device, it should not matter if the device is one of the 90% marketshare, but should also include those users that choose to use the >5% marketshare devices. Consumer choice is key.
On another note, when is this service going to be released via the web and also a Windows/Windows Phone 8.1 and a Windows 10 Universal app? We too are Shaw paying customers!
Hi brycecampbell. I'm sure you will see more platforms as time goes on. Windows platforms, along with other popular platforms, are always considered.
Over the last few years I've dropped, and subscribed to your TV service several times. The primary reason for this is that after experiencing Netflix, and other similar streaming services, content delivery through the cable box interface is extraordinarily frustrating.
(Slow, difficult to search. On the bright side, the antiquity of your TV delivery technology has been a source for many laughs)
FreeRange is a huge step in the right direction. At first glance, this is a MASSIVE improvement in accessing content.
.. unfortunately it appears that you've come up a bit short. Blocking HDMI output and not supporting Chromecast means that while I can access the content I want much more easily, I can not get that content to my TV (Without resorting to that horrendous cable box interface)
I would be much more willing to accept the high costs associated with your TV services if I didn't have to purchase or rent dedicated hardware, and if I could leverage the FreeRange interface to put that content on my TV screen. I can understand that Shaw has an attachment to the millions (Billions?) of dollars you've invested in your cable delivery infrastructure - but it's time to let go. The future is like Netflix. Charge me to access the content, then enable me to put the content where I want, how I want.
Why would you purposely block HDMI output?
Why is there no support for Chromecast? (.. and similar technologies)
Why not enable access from Windows devices? (Not including a windows interface has to be a deliberate decision - I know people who work at Shaw, and I'm fairly confident that Shaw is at least vaguely aware that there is a thing out there called Windows)
This app is a mobile counterpart for television services, it is not built to replace our current offerings but to add to it. This has to do with many options but licensing would be a big one. We can only provide TV in the ways agreed upon with the content creators.
This is made for mobile devices to give people more ability to enjoy their TV when not in the home. We will absolutely pass off your feedback to our management tho! Thanks for that feedback.
What are the 80 channels that are available? Is there a list of channels compatible on the FreeRange app?
Hi lmcguinty ,
At the moment we do not have a list of channels available. It's based on your cable subscription so you might not have access to all 80 channels currently in the app. A few of the notable channels not included right now would be CNN, HLN, Adult channels and the Multicultural channels.
Tried on my iPhone 5s. Get to the login screen and then it does not go any further. A long time later "an unexpected error occurred, error 47, please try again"
Hmmn, I don't see any info on that particular error code. Did you try again? Did you get the same error?
