wifi disconnecting

We have the Arris Advanced Wifi modem. We have been having issues with it disconnecting, specifically on our iPads and iPhones. I moved the router to our main floor to see it helped out with range and prevent devices from disconnecting. Devices are still disconnecting. Sometimes we have to turn off wifi and back on again on our ipads and phones. Sometimes the internet is so slow on them these devices as well. We dont use our laptops as much, but they seem to work. Any recommendations?
