I just replaced my 3400 (which just up and died with hours of recorded shows on it) with a XG1V3. I called Shaw with a question about whether my new box was recognizing the 1 TB Seagate Expander that I had bought from Shaw and had hooked up to my 3400 (and which caused nothing but trouble in the past). The tech guy suggested to me that I should not add any expander to the XG1V3 because it was not clear at this point that any external drive would work well with the machine.
Is this true? Should I not bother hooking up the Seagate (currently the XG1V3 does not recognize it although it is plugged in)? Is there a better alternative with more capacity?
