Is there a way to connect my laptop to the HDTV through the HDMI with a PVR? or do I have to use an additional HDMI splitter or switch?
The HDTV only has 1 HDMI port in the back.
For me, best solution was an HDMI switch. My own TV has a limited number of HDMI inputs and I have too many devices connected to it. I connected all of my devices (including my PVR and computer) to the HDMI switch and then I use the switch's remote control to change back and forth between them.
That is not something we really support. If you wanted to use your Laptop as a screen and it has an HDMI in you could set that up just like a normal TV.
If you wanted to run the Laptop thru your TV to use the TV as a screen for your laptop you would need to connect the laptop directly into your TV. Thanks!
Thanks for your quick reply! Prior to my purchase of the PVR I was able to connect my laptop to the our HD TV via the HDMI cable, but now the PVR is using the HDMI connection. I just wanted to know if there was a way to be able to connect the laptop to the TV again now that I have the PVR becaude the TV only has the one HDMI port. Can I use a switch or splitter box with HDMI to connect other devices to use on the TV screen?
thanks for taking time to answer my question! I will buy a hdmi switch and connect all my devices including my laptop.
I'm not going to suggest one brand over another but if you go to an electronics retail store, they should be able to help. I had to replace my old one last week and bought a nice one at London Drugs for just $99. I'm sure other retailers will have similar prices.
