Why do I change the smtp back to shaw driven as opposed to my Gmail account. I am using a Mac and now all my emails are using gmail
What is your question?
If it is working using your gmail account, and that works for you (you're happy with it) leave it alone.?
I have to say that I'm a bit confused here too. Are you stating that you prefer your @gmail.com email address over your @shaw.ca address? Or are you looking for advice on how to set up some Shaw smtp settings?
Or have the settings in your email program somehow changed and emails are now being sent from your @gmail.com address instead of your @shaw.ca address?
If you don't want to add your @shaw.ca address to your email program, remember that you can always go online to Shaw Webmail and access your emails there.
Do you have both Gmail and your Shaw mail set up in Mac Mail? If so, it is possible that gmail may have made itself the default mail account.
When you create a new email, there should be an option for "From" listing what email account you wish to use to send email out from. If you choose the shaw email, then it should send out.
If your shaw email is not sending out, then it is possible that your shaw emails are trying to send out using the gmail outgoing server. To change this, you will click Mail in the top left, ->Preferences->Accounts->Select your shaw account from the list on the left, and check to see what is selected for "outgoing Server Settings" You will want to confirm that this option is set to Shaw, and you may wish to put a checkmark in the field that says "use only this server"
Hope this helps!
