Hi could someone please tell me the exact location for the IR sensor on the MP 2000 portal. Thanks
Hi there pjpete,
Thanks for reaching out! I'm actually not too sure where exactly it is, so on our test unit, I used a piece of thick cardboard with a hole in it to try and narrow down where the sensor is. Unfortunately this method wasn't extremely accurate, so I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly where it is, but it seems to be near the directional buttons on the front of the unit near the right hand side.
Perhaps somebody else on the Community has taken one of these units apart (don't try this at home) and know exactly where it is? Our internal documentation for the unit does not specify.
You may be able to see it through the plastic if you shine a bright flashlight on the front panel.
Hi thanks both of you for your feedback. While the flashlight trick had worked for the new Gateway, I have not been able to see anything obvious with the portals. I can control my IR output so will play with this and see if I can determine where it's located. If I'm successful I will report back on my findings. Cheers
Just had a chance to play with this. I am quite confident the IR receiver is very close to 1" from the right of the S in ARRIS or 2 3/4" from the left side of the unit. Hope this helps someone else in the future.
