Why, when trying to sign up for the free trial, do I have to fill in a form......when I selected "Shaw Customer"....?
Should I not just be able to log in with my Shaw credentials, to simplify the process?
When I select "Not a Shaw customer yet"....one has to order a TV plan???? To get an online streaming service?
So far, fail!!
Yeah you can sign up for Shomi from your account page, you would think it would be an option for Crave TV as well. Maybe they haven't updated the account page yet.
Hey gamerguy, just to clarify that, the service would have to be added to your account first before you would be able to sign in to access it, which is why the form is there instead of just an option to sign right in. As buckycat mentioned, it may be possible to sign up for this through MyAccount in the future.
It is correct as well that television service is required to add CraveTV to your Shaw account.
Apologies for this re-post for those who read it earlier. I got a little confused. (I'll blame it on side effects of these new meds I recently started...)
So half-assery and a required TV service.....for an online streaming service....yup, total fail!!! (From my point of view of course.)
In my mind, when one selects "Shaw Customer" when ordering either the full service or trial, it should automatically request Shaw credentials. Not require the hassle of filling out a form, when all the info is already accessible to Shaw......the people we are ordering from.
Even as a new service, this to me is a no brainer. It should not be a future possibility but should be doable now. (The "half-assery" part.)
See, you have already lost me because (in my opinion) Shaw should have thought about this and made it easy for their customers from the get go, but no surprise, they didn't.
I was seriously considering adding this too....but oh well. Opportunity squandered.
Internet only customers may as well sign up directly with CraveTV, and pay the $7.99 then, as the $2/month savings through Shaw is no savings at all if I have to sign up for TV too...right? *shrug*
And here, I had the phone in my hand this morning looking to call Telus, to see what they'd offer to get my internet business. I talked myself out of it, but I am now reconsidering that decision seeing, again, in my opinion, Shaw just can't seem to get things right a lot of the time. (Back to "half-assery")
(Do note: Part of my annoyance here is from being annoyed the other day trying to help a friend with their Shaw account. Not solely this "poorly thought out silliness". I just don't feel like ranting about that issue though......can't be bothered, right now at least.)
It always comes down to a decision, do we make it available to our customers now or do we hold off until we are able to update whatever software changes are needed for convenience on our websites. As such, it is available today instead of sometime in the future when it is compatible with My Account for signup.

@gamerguy If that was even an option in my building... Dropping to 5mb service is keeping me away from Telus. But that will change when I find a condo to purchase in the next few months.
Any plans to offer it through the stb?
No word of STB access for the near future, and really can't speak to anything past that.

This would be so simple to add to portals/gateway and I would get it. I have 6 portals and am starting to think dump shaw tv if they don't get their stuff in order. I spent a fair amount to get the promised new, fantastic, dlna, blah blah blah.... I see apple tv can access both shomi and crave and I am an android guy.
The interface for shomi on the gateway is crap. I should be able to just use my tab and tell it to play on a particular portal. (in a simple app) The gateway app is clunky and not versatile enough.
Shaw's internet is what's keeping me as a customer, but I am starting to think I am better off with dump the tv, go to streaming, dump the phone, use my cellular, save enough money to buy a streaming device per month till I have replaced the hardware.
Get with it shaw, if you care to keep customers. move your butt on Xfinity and make it work with the gateways.... it can be done I bet....

As for CraveTV, at the moment there is no information on offering this service through our network to our cable boxes the way that this is done with shomi. It's possible this may happen, but there's nothing on this right now.
Thanks Matt, I am not having trouble working anything, I am just disappointed with what Shaw has done with the gateway.
It must be hard for you guys, the line " It's possible this may happen, but there's nothing on this right now." is one I see a lot in the forums. I simply wish there was more/better coordination between planning, implementation, delivery of services. I am aware some things are guarded pending negotiation with others; however, a clearer vision of where your company is going would be useful for us to know if we want to stay with Shaw as customers or move to another alternative.
Crave is like any other service. Shaw offers it, so why not go flat out like they do with other services?
