CGNM-2250 & Wireless Access Point

I just upgraded to the new CGNM-2250 modem/router from Shaw and get very good wifi coverage throughout most of the home. However in one area I don't so I was going to try and use my old Cisco E2500 as a Wireless Access Point in the areas where I don't get the best wifi coverage.

Is there any issues with doing this?

I have been trying but keep getting errors about the "ip and gateway not in the same subnet mask" by using the settings from the Hitron.
