hi, i just switched from telus to shaw a few days ago, and my xbox live has been disconnecting repeatedly.
this never happened with the previous provider. i was wondering if this problem has a solution.
Your frustration on this is understood and we want to make sure that your Xbox is working with our service just as well as it did with Telus. As you wrote, your laptop is losing service sometimes too so this might actually be an issue with signal to the modem rather than signal to the Xbox.

I tried those solutions and they didn't fix the problem.
Sorry to hear that that didn't work! A few questions,
1. Are you noticing the drops on other devices as well?
2. What is the frequency that you get disconnected? I.e. every 30 min, every other hour, etc.
3. Are you able to have a direct connection to your Xbox?
4. Where is the modem placed at your house and what are the surroundings near the modem?

Hey krjohnlee, haven't heard back in a few days, are you still having trouble with your Xbox connectivity or does it look to be resolved?
i tried unplugging the modem and plugging it back in,
resetting the modem,
changing the wifi channel from auto to a set channel,
turning on the band steering function,
turning off the airtime prioritization function,
and none of the above seems to work.
i sometimes get no internet connection sign on my laptop as well, but the frequency is less severe than that of xbox's.
the modem is placed where the telus modem used to be, and i NEVER had this problem with telus, so i dont know why that should be an issue.
so far, my first week of experience with shaw has been TERRIBLE.
im thinking of switching back to telus.
still not working by the way
tried reserving dhcp and modifying dmz host or whatever.
dont really understand why i should be doing this in the first place, since im PAYING for the service, literally.
i know im not the only one with this problem because i have read number of threads regarding this issue.

We're very sorry to hear that you continue to experience this issue. Can you please try using IP Passthrough in order to completely bypass the router for use with your Xbox and let us know if that helps? Please see below for steps on how to do this.
This will allow your XBox when connected to the router to bypass the strict NAT settings and you should no longer encounter issues while connected to XBox Live if the NAT is what's causing it. when i added the mac address of my xbox and turned my xbox on, i couldnt even connect to internet at all.
nevermind the disconnection, i couldnt make a connection in the first place.
can you guys just send me a different modem/router? because, honestly, i dont see this going anywhere.
Thanks for getting back to us and giving that a shot. It's definitely odd that the console stops working all together, it may just need a power cycle of the modem/router unit and the XBox for the IP to make its way to the XBox. I'm having the exact same issue! Ever figure out what it was? I've had it up to here with this unreliable service I've had for only a month.
You can try the IP Passthrough as well as that does seem to help. I've sent a PM to your Community Inbox so we can get your account info and add the extra IP on the account for you.
