I hooked up an old school rotary dial phone for nostalgic purposes through Shaw using the Arris TM602G modem.
Everything works great, except the phone refuses to ring. I can call it, and it will answer fine, but no ring.
My guess is that this is because the voltage on the old POTS system used to send in enough voltage to get the hammer mechanism to operate on the bells. I assume, that with the new VoIP modem, it is not sending in enough voltage.
Is there any known method to get these phones to ring properly without purchasing a Ring Voltage Booster? ie.
