I was just about to leave Shaw and go to Telus when I got a call from Loss & Retention. L&R convinced me to stay by offering me a 6-month discount and 60Mbps for a year. I told the rep that I wanted a modem that was capable of bridge mode but he didn't know what I was talking about but to talk to the technician when he brought the new modem. So, the technician arrives and, when I tell him what I want, he tries to accommodate me but was unable to and suggested that I call TSR. TSR did try to help but was stymied by the way Shaw's billing system is set up. Basically, on promo, I can get 60Mbps or bridge mode but not both. This makes no sense to me and seems a rather arbitrary decision.
So, for the next couple of years I get a discounted rate and slightly faster internet (I was on the old 25Mbps plan) but still leaves me somewhat unhappy and more likely to leave for Telus once fibre gets to my house.
