Still have audio popping on this channel.
no it doesnt happen on any other channel
yes its present on live AND recorded tv
yes my gateway has been reset a million times
issue present on all portals
changed hdmi cables
honestly... WHAT THE HELL
I feel shaw has abandoned its gateway customers. We paid a premium for this hardware and get kicked in the junk. what a mistake.
Hey tank_killer ,
Really sorry to hear this is happening to you again. I know it's definitely frustrating. So far we haven't received any reports but I am curious to see if anyone else is noticing it. I am also wondering if you know if this is happening with all programs, or just some? Last time it appeared you were only having this issue with the Simpsons and Family Guy, so just trying to see if it's following the same pattern again.
Popping on live feed "so you think you can dance" aired 9pm GMT -7
Are you receiving any other issues, such as pixelation? It is possible it could be related to signal issue. Is it occurring on all portals or just one? If just the one portal, try reseating the cable by unscrewing the cable ends off the portal and cable outlet, then screw them back on. See if it continues. If it looks to be all portals, then reseat the cable ends off the main Gateway unit and check to see if it continues.
no video issues
ONLY THE FOX FEED HAS ISSUES NO OTHER CHANNELS.
How often does this occur? Is there a particular time of date you notice it most? We can definitely see about having a tech out to investigate, the only problem with that is, if it only occurs once in a while, it may not be happening when the tech arrives.
nope not fixed
audio popping on Simpsons Sunday October 2
I have the same issue frequently with the Simpsons.
Sorry to hear that this is an issue. We'll reach out to our monitoring teams to see if they are able to re-create this issue and will let you know what we find out.
In the mean time, if you are able to grab a quick video clip as an example that would be helpful to our teams that will be monitoring for this.
popping on the 600th simpsons episode sunday oct 16 9pm
thanks for ruining it for me!
Popping.mp4 - Google Drive
its so awful.. it makes TV unwatchable.. this has gone on for over a year now!!!!
popping2.mp4 - Google Drive
mark_vse please help! somebody has to fix this.
Same here. Happens on the Simpsons on FOX every single week. No other channels have any issues and I'm not even sure if it's only present with The Simpsons, but that show is definitely consistent. Stop pretending it's not a problem. Fix it.
Can we please escalate this issue? or is the lack of response a just "deal with it" attitude?
We are definitely looking into this. I would like to send you both a DM to your Community Inbox so we can collect your account information and look further into it.
Audio popping in family guy Nov6
Audio issues during family guy nov 20
I have confirmed with now 2 other friends this happens weekly on their fox28 feeds on Sunday its not just me.
I would gladly put up with the other gateway shortcomings of shaw would fix this.
This has been happening to us on BOTH Fox HD channels for 2 or 3 months. It happens between 6 and 10 pm. It can happen any day of the week, no matter what show we have recorded (we watch very little "live" tv anymore). I thought it was our sound system, but well I learned pretty quickly that wasn't the case. Never did contact Shaw - that's like having a bunch of chickens running around the house with their heads cut off. We live in S'toon. I wrote this in large type so maybe Shaw can read it.

Hi nargd ,
Thanks to the information provided by tank_killer, our video operations team is in contact and working with the team who manages bringing in the source feed. As determined, when simultaneous substitution is active on this channel (eg, when it shows the Global TV channel bug) the audio channel doesn't occur. Thank you for touching base with us and your patience while this challenge is resolved.
Audio popping Dec/20/2016 9pm during iceage: a mammoth christmas
audio issues still persist sunday jan/1/2017
the mick and brooklyn99
is shaw position still "nothing is wrong"?
in addition to audio popping there is now random audio cutting out/pausing for a second
audio popping AND cutting out on 1hr simpsons special jan/15/2017
its actually getting WORSE
So only the Simpsons show has the audio popping now, other programs are having audio drops? We have herd from a few others that some shows the audio cuts out for a moment at a time, and I've noticed it in some of my recordings just in the last bit as well which I believe were on Fox. That would be a separate issue.
summary of sunday jan 15
simpsons - no substituion fox28 feed audio popping and audio cutting out
family guy - substituted for city feed no audio issues
the mick - substituted for a city feed no audio issues
I am also getting audio popping on various channels at seemingly random times. There seems to be no pattern at all. It happens on HD and SD channels. It happens on the Gateway and on the portal. It comes and goes, but I notice it far more frequently in the evening.
I just had had a tech in to install a Horton cable modem and he tested all the levels. They were all strong.
This is strikes me now as a Gateway hardware/software issue. I never had this problem on my Motorola pvr that I had before the Gateway.
just my two cents. I wish this would go away. It ruined Sherlock these last two Sundays. I bought the episodes on iTunes because it was unwatchable when broadcast.
You mentioned various channels, are you getting the popping on channels other than Fox?
Yes. I experienced it sunsay night on 204 KSPS for sure. Also 207 NBCHD last night And of course on 208 FoxHD last night.
i am watching 206 CBSHD right now (1815hrs) and no popping.
hope this helps,
tank_killer would you be able to check those stations as well and see if you get popping on those or if you still only have it affecting Fox?
i dont have 207.. and i dont watch those others. for me I have only noticed fox28
I am having the same issues in Thunder Bay. Customer service said they had no other reports of this issue. Several of my friends are having the same problems.
204 PBS, recording Sherlock (last 3 Sundays) had so many audio dropouts. 205 ABC, The Middle (Jan 17) had many. NBC (207?), Celebrity Apprentice (Jan 16), audio dropouts.
I have a technician coming on Saturday but it isn't just me having the problem.
Very interesting observation above where the dropouts occurred when the feed was not substituted by a Canadian feed. I will keep an eye out for this to see if it is true all the time.
Audio popping on the simpsons feb/12/2017
is this the kind of quality we can expect from BlueSky TV?
From what I've heard so far, this has not been an issue at all with the BlueSky TV system.
This has been going on for over a year!!! why on gods green earth would anyone purchase another flagship product from shaw when they didn't even provide a functioning product the last time?!
abysmal to say the least
SERIOUSLY... WHAT IS SHAWS REASON FOR THIS GOING ON SO LONG! WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO FIX IT.
Yes the same thing happens with us here in calgary when we watch the Simpsons or family guy. Been happening about a year
energykenji : Can we confirm, are you also with a Gateway HDPVR system?
tank_killer : Our local operations team has reopened a new case with the video operations team to further investigate the challenge. All cases of this audio popping have been reported by users of the Gateway HDPVR system. We will provide an update as soon as we get any further details. Thank you.
Yes I am
Sunday feb 19
Simpsons: Fox28 feed (KAYU DT 28.1) no audio issues
Family Guy & Son of Zorn: City feed substitute no audio issues
Thanks for the update tank_killer.
energykenji Please let us know if you've recently seen any more audio challenges on this channel as well.
Some audio popping May 7th simpsons, around the 9:20pm mark. its the fox 28.1 feed.
Major popping on making history
Its this sort of stuff I tell everyone about when they talk about buying bluesky
this still isnt fixed
i have been constantly hearing this sound too, it usually happens when the simpsons, family guy and sometimes bobs burgers (usually only ever want to watch those) ... it is ridiculous and happens way too often. but like what was said before, it is very unpredictable, but consistant at the same time?
It may be the sound quality feed specific to the content being broadcast. Which equipment do you have and what troubleshooting steps have you tried?
Cheers,Tony | Community Mod.
There's a problem with the feed in some area's seems they cant/wont do anything about it. Its not your hardware, they substitute FOX feed with a CITY one at the same time slots and no audio issues.
