will my HDPVR record more than 1 program that runs in the same time slot, like 2 programs that show at 10:00?
Yes. All of the HDPVRs have two tuners (the Gateway system has six), meaning that they can record two shows at the same time. One item to understand is you can't watch a 3rd channel at the same time that two shows are actively recording, but you could watch a recording that you already have saved. There is a "swap" button on the remotes (excluding the Gateway) that will allow you to switch between the two tuners (in case the one you are on is recording).
Last on the Gateway switches between tuners.
But only for last 2 used of the 6 tuners. It literally is 'last' and current, no cycling through. I wish there was a way to cycle through all 6 easily.
Assumption on my part:
I believe (see following paragraph) if you remember the channels, and use the guide, you can get to all 6 tuners with buffers intact but that's not really practical if true.
I just happened to notice the other day when I accidentally jumped between 3 channels and found the 3rd (not one of 'last') channel had a bit of a buffer for the short time it had been used when I, again, accidentally switch to that channel a short ago. I did not explore it in depth and it may have been a fluke. Though it would make sense if it does indeed work like that. I mean why would it flush the buffer and start anew?
When I just tried now, yes last goes between the last two programs... Maybe I had one recording when it was doing it before.. Or the 2nd Portal... *shrugs* but this is off topic now
I guess, if your a stickler for that sorta thing. Most forums I am part of allow for slightly sideways but not blatant off-topic. DHF is kinda odd for me in that they are quite strict. (Not a judgment! It's just different than "the norm" for me so it's odd.)
It's all "tuner" related in my mind, therefore relevant.
But apologies to OP none the less.
Some of the mods here are Which is ok.
At least they can branch the disussion into it's own thread...
