Loosing buffer on various channels

This is not a big deal to me, but recently with the "popular" "Donald Trump show" (same reason we gawk at car accidents as we pass by) on CNN I've frequented the channel and have a couple of my Gateway Portals left on the channel.

When I turn on a TV usually I have an hour and a half, or two hours in the buffer.  So as to avoid commercials I back up an hour or so and watch what I've missed, jumping through commercials, heading to current time.  Many times the signal has locked and I'm reset to no buffer and live CNN.

Is this normal ?  I'd say in the last couple of weeks it's happened to me 3 or 4 times at least.

As I say it's not a big deal, I'm just watching basically out of "morbid curiosity" and avoiding commercials by watching the buffer.  If I was watching an actual program that I had paused for some reason, I would certainly be upset.  Personally I generally tape programs I really want to see and have no problems at all.
