I don't know if it is just me, but I feel like the Gateway is going away. Updates are getting sparser and sparser and there are no discussions going on other than issues with the system.
Anyone else have the same thoughts?
yup, if you bought the gateway... you got ripped off. I felt like that a month after i paid a premium for this
i cant even watch fox28 without audio issues channel 203
It has been a ghost town lately. I don't think they have abandoned it, but if there are no complaints, there won't be much activity.
Hey folks, the Gateway is definitely not being abandoned!
First, we came out with the original Gateway which required portals. Then we came out with the next version, the XG1, that can act as a stand-alone PVR or can have portals added. Rest assured that the Gateway will continue to receive firmware updates as they are needed.
Shaw has not updated the Gateway Updates list (appears before the Forum discussions on Gateway sub-forum page) since Aug 11, 2014. That gives people the impression that it's been abandoned. There have been updates since then but they are not listed.
Thanks Lance. We are glad to hear the Gateway will continue to get firmware upgrades. Functionality improvements would also be appreciated.
We really like the Gateway and would have seen more of the additional functionality turned on for us. SAs per my earlier post the Arris Gateway has a number of excellent features that Shaw did not turn on yet. I would still like to see the time put in to turn them on.
I had a look at the new service and prefer the Gateway. For us the Gateway still has more useful functionality than BlueSky.
As requested a few years ago, I would really like to see the sort date and title simplified like it is on the 3416.
so shaw is suggesting they still plan on fixing the sluggish menus and the audio issues on fox28 of the original gateway?
No point getting new hardware if the sluggish menu issue not being fixed. There are not many posts doesn't mean there are no problems, people (like me) just gave up because we know nothing will be done. Will hang on to this box, if the menu issue not fixed when this box dies, will go somewhere else.
Gateway was abandoned! Bought ours and no upgrades ever. And now - "the future is BlueSky" (just buy this hardware)
Personally don't like the BlueSky service yet. It has a couple of extra functions for Sports but less basic capability than Gateway.
Shaw failed to earn my confidence with their flagship products, because of the gateway. I wont be buying bluesky and telling everyone to be wary.
I think that bluesky will be a lot more successful when it comes to adding features because comcast is doing a lot of the work
but as of right now I can not see any good reasons to upgrade especially since you can not even use it simultaneously with any of the older boxes
"new features" lol, that won't be hard.
Add filtering by channel subscription and you have already beat gateway system, which is pretty laughable out the gate.
Arris Gateway has a lot more functionality years ago that Shaw did not turn on. Not comfortable yet, that they will do any better for BlueSky. I bought 3510s and they changed to Gateway. I bought Gateway and they change to Bluesky. This is getting repetitive and expensive.
you guys ever see how many fixes and feature additions the motorola boxes get?
HD Guide Firmware Update - April 3 - April 13, 2017
I realize hardware ect changes, but man do I feel the burn on this gateway system. every day I turn it on. and every Sunday I try to watch my shows on fox28 with audio issues.
shaw, throw us a bone here. we paid quite a bit of money for this hardware.
