I keep getting asked if I want to update my notification permission on my webmail. What happens if I do?
I haven't come across that when using my own webmail. Does this happen as soon as you log in? Does it give you the option to update or cancel?
I just replied to your email but maybe you won't get it. It comes up randomly but not when I first open my webmail. My onlyl options are to say "yes" or "no" I called Shaw to find out what would happen if I said yes and they really didn't know. they have asked me to send them a "screen shot" which apparently involves using Paint, which I have never done (((( and they will see what they can find out !
Thanks for your response
Thank you! I'm not familiar with this error, either, but we did just upgrade to a new version of Webmail so maybe that has something to do with it. I don't have the new version yet.
If you have trouble with sending in a screen shot, another thing you can try is contacting chat support when that error pops up. They have a special tool that allows them to see your computer screen (but only if you give them permission) so they would be able to check it for you that way. You can access chat using this link: Chat
I was in at London Drugs today and talked to their techie and he suggested I bring a photo of the message and he would look it up on line and try to find out if it was benign....or not! but I can follow up with your suggestion as well.
I've been getting the same thing for the last couple of weeks. I keep saying "No".
I tinkered around on my own Shaw email and was not able to get this message. Though, I have a feeling that saying "yes" would only take you to a settings screen. I'd love to test that theory on my own first but unfortunately this message doesn't pop up for me
This is coming from the Chrome browser. Clicking "Yes" allows Chrome to allow pop-up notifications (which are different from regular browser pop-up windows) when certain events occur, such as when new mail arrives. See this link for details on how to change your notification settings.

I'm getting this in Firefox. Working with Shaun, I replied "Yes" and was taken to a Firefox page called "Web Push Notification in Firefox", so it's a browser-setting message for Firefox, as well.
When I okayed the setting, I now get longer 'preview messages' on the taskbar when I receive emails.
I think I understand what you mean by that and on my end. I can drag the preview to increase or decrease the size (using Chrome). If I am mistaken, can you please clarify for me?
Also, it sounds like the notification pop up is no longer an issue? But possibly a new one has arised.
I've had the same problem since the last update Shaw made to their web mail. I finally got sick and tired of 'Do you want to update your notification permission?' constantly begging to be satisfied without any qualifying information behind the question. So I did a thorough search through all the tabs to figure it out. Try going to Preferences tab/Mail/Receiving Messages. Uncheck the box for 'Show a popup notification'. That worked for me. Good luck!
