sound dropouts last about 1 second
only happening on this channel
have reset gateway to no effect
make's it VERY annoying to try and watch
not a very good start for this channel
and how come it is not HD
We're still keeping an ear open, YMCA literally just came on. No audio drops or blips just yet. It could be that the specific frequency that this channel runs on (as well as 172) is just slightly out of tune. To resolve that, we may need to send someone out to "fine tune" it so if you'd like us to help make those arrangements. Please let us know and we can take this conversation to a private message and help schedule an appointment.
I haven't heard of any other reports officially and I spoke with our operations team about this as well.
Sorry to hear of the troubles you are experiencing with that channel. No reports of issues about that.
Does it happen at certain times or with certain shows on the channel? I will suggest to swap the HDMI ends with each other to see if it improves the experience.
Please submit a channel request here to generate more interest for the channel to be in HD.

It happens on all programs on that channel.. I want to repeat that it is ONLY ON THIS CHANNEL.
I have been a computer tech for over 20 years, so I think you can safely assume that I have tried ALL trouble shooting methods regarding swaping cables around, changing cables altogether, reseting the system etc..
I should also mention that I was in the Shaw retail store yesterday on another mater and the customer service agent advised that they had also noticed this issue.
So to sum up:
All cables changed (numerous times)
System reset (numerous times)
Other channels checked (does not happen on them)
Your own retail staff has noticed it
IT IS APROBLEM WITH THE CHANNEL....
Also want to sayt hat this is a shame because I am really enjoying this new channel
Hi seymourhill ,
How frequently do you hear these drop outs? We've just had a listen to the channel here in the office and didn't get any audio drops for about the 3-5 minutes we were able to listen. We'll be sure to take further investigation on our side to see if there's any other reports from other customers watching the channel.
Just a further note, it appears this channel is not currently provided in HD by the broadcaster. Only a 16:9 SD (576i) feed. Would make sense since majority of their content is pre-dating HDTV (1940-1990s). Source: Vintage TV (TV channel) - Wikipedia
It can go for an hour without any drops, then have multiple drops in the next half hour.. there does not seem to be any patterns at all, not at any specific time of day or anything else recognizable.. and yeah I realised as soon as I posted that the nature of the channel content would preclude HD oops my bad on that one
We're testing it over here with one of the test stations and have one of our colleagues sitting nearby to keep an eye out or rather an ear open for any audio drops.
Further troubleshooting, the following channels are on the same frequency as Vintage TV. If you have access to the following channels and have the opportunity to; can you check for any picture or audio issues on channels: 172
This can help us determine if other channels on that same frequency are having troubles in the home. I apologize if I missed this but does this happen on any other TV's in the home or a specific one?
It happens on both of the tv's in the house, but I am not going to worry about it now as, afterall, it is not a channel I am paying extra for... It is annoying but will probably not stop me from watching it.
I do have access to ch 172 but rarely watch it so I can't say if it happens there as well
So you guys can close this off, I am just glad that Shaw is adding a channel .. :-)
