I currently have 3 Arris portals and I am wishing to add two more. I already have the hardware. I am wondering how do I modify the RG6 cabling/splitters with the confirguration shown in the attached sketch?
That diagram looks good so far. And you're right, each portal would have to be behind the MoCA filter in order to protect the signal. If you are going to add the new portals, you can do so on that splitter (or swap out the splitter for one that allows more feeds).
But if they need to be in a part of the house that can't be on that splitter, you would need a Shaw installer to come out and hook them up for you. The installer would have a truckful of MoCA splitters.
Does Shaw have an approved splitter that has 5 outputs? Or can I take off one of the portals on the top splitter in my pic, tie in another 3 output splitte?
Hi masterd9778 ,
The largest splitter we provide is a 4-way splitter (1 input, 4 outputs). In this situation you would likely need to use a set of smaller 2-way (1 in, 2 out) or 3-way (1 in, 3 out) to get all the devices connected as planned.
