I own a motorola dvr dcx3400-m the pvr works when I unplug it and reset it for a couple of days. But after a couple of days it says "DVR Service is not available or is currently disabled ". Than i have to reset the PVR again. Very frustrated
Do you happen to have a PVR expander connected to your 3400? If so, it might be causing the issue. If you don't have an expander, there could be another issue. The next time this happens, you can check to see if the unit is recognizing the drive.
On your remote press CBL, then power
Right after you hit power, press the OK button
You should see D01 on the front display and a list on the TV screen
Go to 13 and press OK
Press the down arrow on the remote and you should get a screen showing the Hard Drive status
If it says Number of Devices connected: 0, you've got a failing internal drive and need to call Shaw to have a tech out.
I second from personal experience of expanders being finnicky
sorry no expander on the unit but I will check the drive next time it does it. so far it is working two days so I'm hopeful it will keep working
ok it took a while but it happened again. The unit works except for the PVR function. It took 3 attempts before it would reset and let the PVR function work again. But before I reset it checked the D13 screen on the PVR and it said drives connected 1.
Definitely sounds frustrating to have it happen again wsthor . Let's take a look at the account from our end. I'll send you a private message shortly, requesting for your account information. Please check your Community Inbox in a few minutes.
