Does Shaw have a modem WITHOUT the Intel Puma 6 chipset?

I am tired of the terrible lag spikes like everyone else who has tried to play a low latency demanding game and it seems no one on Shaw really cares because, "your connection is well within spec".

Shaw currently has provided me with a Cisco DPC3848V because the "Hi-Tron" isn't near as good as I was told by the service tech. Since I am on the Internet 150 and stuck in a two year contract (never again will I sign a contract for services) I guess I have to purchase my own router making the deal not so great not.

I don't want this Cisco 3848V anymore, the GUI is extremely slow and irritates me having to wait 1-2 minutes to apply a setting.

If I want to get the modem in bridged mode will it still have any interaction with the Intel Puma 6 chipset?

Do I have to get the old Cisco DPC3825 again and bridge that on the Internet 150 or do I keep this crappy Cisco 3848V or get the Hi-Tron?
