Does anyone know how far can I go back when watching a live HD program (without changing channel)? I found inconsistant results, in several cases I can't go back at all. Thanks
Please see this response as i have answered this already
The manual says at least 10 minutes HD and at least 30 minutes SD.
I don't recall seeing that in the past, good explaination, *wonders how often Arris changes it with code updates*
I'd give the buffer 'partition' 100-200+GB if I could, especially when using an Expander.
Thanks Kevin and Mark for the info. Will keep monitoring to see if the "can't go back" problem happens again.
Hi, the problem happened again today, not sure if this is by design or a bug in the system. I was watching the 7:30pm Big Bang Theory tonight, about 5 minutes in, we decided to watch a recorded program, the program ended shortly before 8pm. Went back to live TV, Big Bang Theory just finished, so I tried to rewind and watch the show from the beginning but ran into two problems
1. I can only rewind to 7:29pm, about 30 minutes, thought I can rewind for several hours, the size of the buffer
2. About a minute into watching the rewind program, it jumped to live TV and I can't go back anymore
Is this the rewind bug that people are talking about?
i think we have found the issue from another thread. It appears to be related on programs that are coming out of a simsub.
we have escalated to Arris, and i was able to replicate the issue as well. the way around it right now is to record the program, or watch the non simsub version until this issue gets resolved.
IE, if global and abc currently have a show on at the same time, choose the global channel since the american channel will have the simsub version of globals on anyways.
let us know if you have any questions regarding what i am purposing.
Thanks Mark, so is it always the American channels that have the simsub and we should watch the Canadian channel to avoid the issue?
THat is correct. When you are on an american channel, that is why there is a ctv, citytv, global or omni bug instead of the american logo on the program.
rule of thumb is if a canadian channel and american channel have the same program at the same time, a simsub is going on.
so as mentioned either for now watch the canadian channel, or record the american channel as a work around
let us know how that works for you.
