Sometimes a show scheduled to record, does record. And sometimes it doesn't. What's going on?
Certain programs never record, no matter how my record settings are set. What's going on?
When you set a Shaw Gateway - How to set a Series Recording do you set it as "all - Timeslot" or is it under "new only"?

Just one example last night Blacklist-Redemption at 10:00 (Global, I think) was set to series record (I checked at ~ 7pm). but just didn't. It was set to record all timeslots, and accept repeats. It was in fact new.
Rizzoli and Isles, on Saturday and Monday, various times. I given up trying to get it to series record. The only time it has recorded was when I hit the manual record button on the day of the show. It was set to accept repeats and record all times.
dpike that is very odd. I will suggest to do a full power reset on the main large gateway unit by unplugging it by one minute.
Let me know if you still see this issue.
Tony. this may be the problem,. My Shaw boxes are marked MP2150 - TI REFURB
So these are down-level AND have already failed at least once. God only knows if they're running the right software for a 2150. You guys need to send out a repairman with the right equipment and the ability to fully test it out before he leaves.
We can try pushing through the most recent update to your Gateway to make sure that it is on the latest firmware. I'll send you a private message.

I didn't answer publicly because I have no interest in seeing you try to patch down-level hardware and try to integrate it with newer versions. I'm paying full price and I expect new equipment that works. I've had the system for a month, and haven't had a single day of working properly. I have to believe that reject hardware is part of the problem. The rest is in the quality of service, which has yet to resolve a single problem.
I sent a 'frank' private email to Shaun so as not to embarrass him in public, and give Shaw a chance to make this right. That was nearly a week ago, and I'm not impressed with the total lack of interest. :To be clear, I want brand new, working equipment all at the same Version level, and I want to see it working reliably. Immediately. I don't think it's unreasonable to want a trouble-free service for a premium price. It's up to you but I\m not going to wait for much longer before I just cut my losses and move on.

Not sure what pvr you gave but my 3510 misses recordings all the time. At least once a week something doesn't record. For example Full Frontal with Samantha Bee will never record at 10:30 pm no matter what. So I also set it for 2:30 am and that one works. The premiere of Girls on HBO didn't record either.
This has happened ever since I bought this pvr. Nothing has fixed it. I just put up with it.
i still have my old 3400 pvr set up in another room that I use as a back-up, recording all the shows I can't miss. I rely on that pvr a lot.
Hey budsgirl, I have a good old 3510 at home too and don't find that it's missing anything. One question - When you go into the guide for Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, does the guide have the red dot or triple dots on the episode slot? And if it does and you click it to look at the recording options, is it set for new episodes only or all episodes?
It is set for new and repeats. It shows 3 dots overlapped. I actually saw what happens when the show came on. The red recording light came on then a message appeared on the screen saying there was an error and it stopped recording. I have cancelled the series recording then set it up again but the same thing happens. I manually set it to record again at 2:30 am and that one usually works. But it happens randomly with other shows all the time. I have many shows that show the cracked white dot next to them when you search, indicating a show that didn't tape.
i used to complain about this when I first got this machine 2 years ago but eventually gave up. I think there are old threads about it.
Thanks, budsgirl. I just got Shaw, because Telus is not available in my building. I was having trouble believing it could be as bad as it is, but you've confirmed it for me. It's like discovering I'm not crazy after all.
I had Homeland (Episode 10) set to record tonight and it didn't record. Set a recording for a later time and that didn't record either.
Can you do a quick power reset on the unit by unplugging it for one minute. Once it reboots and fully loads up after 15 minutes, set a future recording to see if it records.

If Jeff has the same situation as me, if that doesn't work, you know it's broken, but if it does work, that doesn't prove it's fixed. These problems seem to be random. They work about as often as they don't
