What happens after the two year contract ends? Can you change tv/internet plans to a cheaper month to month plan or do you have to continue on with most expensive plans?
As you're aware the BlueSky package is currently only for Internet 150 and Premier TV but there may be changes to the requirements later down the line. Hard to comment on what may happen in 2 years as we've only rolled this out to Calgary and Vancouver so far.
In two years who knows what will be available. I know that with promotions, the price over all has been kept down to an acceptable amount for a complete Blue Sky/Internet/Phone package. I think the whole promotions things is a little silly but probably no different than "loyalty" gestures seen over at Telus. Hey that's modern marketing and Shaw has treated me very fairly with my package pricing.
I think the key to getting good pricing is to stay with your provider. I have been with Shaw for over 35 years. That doesn't go unnoticed when shopping for Shaw plans. The same is true for Telus mobility, they always comment on how long I have been a Telus mobility customer and I see their appreciation in my rates. Of course I could always do with a little more appreciation in the rates at negotiation time.
I used to flip back and forth with hardware ownership v rental. That was a pain at times. Seems the way to go these days is rental. Too many changes to keep swapping out gear. Used Shaw gear doesn't fetch a lot of money on used Victoria these days and their is the time factor associated with listing electronics. The Shaw service/support is also very good should a component go down. Blue sky component rental is the only way to participate now and I am fine by that. Just makes for a well rounded plan - simple.
