Am I eligible for BlueSky plus Internet 150 2 year contract when I already have Internet 150. Also is there still a bundle discount on Shaw phone service with this contract? Is phone outside of the contract?
Yeah! You are still eligible. If you currently have home phone services I believe it is discounted with the addition of TV package on the 2-year value plan. Did you need assistance to setup for the service? Happy to reach out via DM and schedule a call back.
No. I can't move to Bluesky until the 500GB PVR limitation is resolved. I really like the system but I record a lot of sports in HD and at roughly 5GB per hour it just wouldn't work. I got used to 3.5TB with external drives on the gateway. And the Bluesky system can't run along side the gateway so I'm stuck for now.
few things to consider:
1) you can link multiple XG1's to increase the storage capability and tuners.
2) as channels move to mpeg4 and ultimately IP, the programs that are being stored take up less space due to bitrate and compression. I presently have a two xg1 system set up and with all recordings i pretty much stay under 50% storage utilized (1 TB storage).
for the first time, our family actually had 10 tuners recording at once (all HD). Crazyness lol
I have been following the media stories and forum posts about IP over cable for a while. The whole Shaw and Rogers IP research and eventual discontinuation of IP research, money invested then written down in favour of licensing Comcast X1 is all very interesting. Judging by these posts about search, navigation, menu and VOD being IP based already, Shaw's road to full IP implementation appears a lot clearer now.
Certainly v1 of Blue Sky is a step in the right direction.
