I have added to used portals to my current network. I can access the pvr recordings but not live tv. Does this just mean I need to add it to my account and have the boxes activated?
I can access the pvr recordings
I am very interested in this part..
You will need to have the Portals added to your account. Depending on how your home cable was wired, you may or may not need to have a tech come and change the MoCA part around a little.
The Portals should be all or nothing, they shouldn't be able to access recordings, unless you added another entire Gateway system.. If that is the case, you will only be able to have one Gateway 'brain' active.. They won't activate the 2nd.. Even when wired as two separate systems.. I've tried..
So reading your post, I am guessing you added a completely Gateway system, 'brain' and Portals? If that is the case you have to contact Shaw and get the Portals associated with your Gateway, and remove the 2nd 'brain'
Brain being the MG5225G or XG1 models..
hey there. got it going. I didnt add a new brain. just to portals to the existing brain. its confusing because depending on how much knowledge the support staff have will determine the answer you get from them. we got it going by adding the new portals to the account but it took some time. The brain was remotely booted but still wouldnt work . After a while we unplugged the newly added portals and voila. guide showed up and everything is working. Except 1 portal is missing some subscribed channels.
I did alot of reading and everything I understood I concluded no need for a tech and the 100.00 install fee.
The channel list is independently set on each portal. The easiest method to update is to sync to the Gateway app.
