Curious if shaw blocks the ports required to portforward to host a RUST server.
I believe the only port we block is port 25 for our mail servers, so you shouldn't have any trouble setting that up.
Outbound TCP 25 is blocked, but not incoming.
Depending on which modem you have and if you are using it as your router, there is a firmware bug that some ports can't be forwarded..
Which ports do you need opened?
Also, moderators, who did I upset that my posts are now "Currently being moderated."?
Hey redphoenix420, we shouldn't be blocking any of those required ports. Which ports do you need open and what indication do you have that you can't access through them?
kevinds, I see the confusion of the "currently being moderated" message. You posted your message in the main forum and all posts there will get that message. I've moved this thread to the Internet forum now so new posts shouldn't have any issues.
28015 (game server) and 28016 (Rcon)
Was adding them to the linksys port forward page but couldn't see server on master list. Was narrowing down the possibilities of why it would not work. I don't think shaw is the issue. Thanks
Is the WAN/Internet IP of your Linksys router a 192.168.x.x IP? If your Shaw modem isn't bridged, it may be NATing your internet connection before your Linksys router, causing exactly this..
Before checking the 'master list' can you try connecting from somewhere else to test? TCP or UDP? TCP is easier to test to see if it is open or not..
My router is connected to my modem. Only my pc is using an ether net cable to router. I need to open 28015 (Game server) and 28016 (Rcon).
I have an ea6900 router. I have tried opening them, but don't see server on master list.
I was trying to narrow down the reasons why it might not work. Shaw doesn't seem to be the issue.
