The fan noise is getting louder than before. Is there a way to make it quieter?
Hey soso406 !
For issues like this, we will most likely need to arrange for a technician to visit and take a look. We can certainly take a look at your account, if you can please reply back with your account information. You'll see a message from me shortly, please check your Community Inbox
Which gateway is this, the older Arris or the newer XG1v3 ?
We have XG1 A. What does XG-1 V3 have added to it?
some of my other devices get noisy too. i disconnect them completely, use an anti static mat and a vacuum or blower or can of air to blow out the dust really well. take your time. the dust can be sort of sticky from moisture or oils in the air. cigarette smoke is especially oily and sticky. try to find the vents and blow "through" to another vent. you want to get as much airflow as possible to dislodge lint and dust that may have accumulated around the fan making it noisier. Try moving the air in one direction then from the opposite to move segments of debris back and forth. Dont expect to see very much. it doesn't take much to offset the weight of a fan and cause more noise. dust and lint buildup on the fan also can cause overheating as well. Do not try taking the cover off or dismantling the device. If this method does not improve the noise level then it is likely a hardware issue and needs to be looked at by a technician.
