Kids were complaining about lagging Internet so I rebooted the Shaw router. Still currently getting 108 Mbps whereas we are supposed to be getting 150. Ping is 25 ms where it is usually 7 or 8. Anyone else getting slow Internet?
No over all issues I can see in that area right now. There can be a number of reasons for speed issues but the following link has all the steps you should need to get this fixed up quickly!
How to troubleshoot slow Internet speeds
Thanks Jason, not a noob :-), most of those those suggestions don't factor in here. We have several computers and normally things are top notch with the Internet service. It's now the following day, still below what we are paying for. Speed tests range from approximately 100 to 120 Mbps. Have re-booted (full power down) several times, still no love. Things are improving slowly as the day goes on though.
Were you running the speed tests over WiFi or direct ethernet connections? Very odd to hear it is intermittently slow.
Let me know so I can help.

Wired - ethernet connected directly to the back of the Shaw (Hitron) modem. We also have some laptops that use Wifi but I am doing the speed tests on computers that are directly connected. Our connection speed usually runs over 150 Mbps, but yesterday and today have been well below that.
Definitely strange confusedbuthappy! Sorry to hear that it continues to be sub-150Mb/s. Are you able to just have the one PC wired in to the modem/router unit, with the WiFi disabled? Then try booting the PC up in safe mode with networking and running some speed tests?
This will give us an accurate read on what the connection speeds are looking like, ensuring that there's no other network usage interfering with it. Let us know!
Sorry for the late reply, I was away. Today, with wifi off, and only my computer connected directly via ethernet and no other computers also connected, the Internet speeds have been between 110 and 135 Mbps. Then, also today, after booting in safe mode with network support, the speeds are still well below 150 Mbps. The speeds fluctuate each time I do the test and the results still range from about 110 Mbps to 135 Mbps.I know that in the past we have clocked speeds of up to 160 Mbps so there is definitely something strange happening. Could the Hitron modem be the issue?
Not likely, the modems are pretty solid but we have some other things we can look at. We will want to run some tests on the modem itself to see what is going on. I will send you a private message to your community inbox here https://community.shaw.ca/inbox Reply to that message and we can go from there.
