Anyone else have a problem with the latest fee hike on July's invoice. To announce an increase that is double the rate of inflation is a little much for a cousumer to quietly absorb.
Yup - I'm getting hit with a $ 9 increase ( $ 5 for Internet 5, $ 2 for Personal TV and $ 2 for Home Phone ) starting in August and there is just no way I can justify this latest price gouge. Over the long weekend I'm going to look over the TV plans and see if there is something I can do to whittle my TV rate down a bit without losing too many channels I like. Since I have the bare bones Internet and Phone packages TV seems to be the only thing I can cut back on. Sometime next week I'll call SHAW's Customer Retention number and see just what ( if anything ) they can do to for me. I don't want to switch but in the back of my mind is the fact that Telus recently installed their Optik system in my building so at least I do have other options.
Hey chrisf, thanks for the post!
Yes, there will be a rate adjustment on August 1 and many customers will see an increase.
If we could, we wouldn't have a rate adjustment. But as detailed at Aug 1, 2017 | Rate Adjustment FAQ, it is necessary due to rising operational costs and investing in our services.
Keep in mind that here at Shaw. we are always ready and willing to engage with each customer to find the plan that works best for them and their budget. For example, if you are on an older TV package, switching over to our new Small, Medium and Large packages might help lower costs and give you a plan that works best for you.
Let us know if you would like us to private message you so that we can look at your current plan and perhaps discuss if there is one that is preferable.
That was it for me. Cable is unplugged tomorrow and going with antenna.
I am absolutely sick of these increases. Shaw continues to increase costs and does not offer anything in return. $4 a month for internet is excessive. I am now close to 80 dollars for internet 15. I am going to switch. I have had enough of shaw.
We would hate to see you go based on the Rate Adjustment that is necessary, as Lance had summarized, due to operational costs and investments to our services. We would love to have a discussion to find the right package at the right price point for you, let us know if you would like us to assist.
I've about had it with cable tv. It is becoming unaffordable for seniors with less content and don't even get me started about the cost of internet. Bundling doesn't save any money if you keep raising prices. I have seen no improvement in any of your services in 10 years just higher cost.
Does Shaw have an email only option? If it weren't for the chore of changing my email address for all my subscriptions, accounts and logins (this time to a gmail address) I'd be gone from Shaw tomorrow. A week of Shaw email once I sign up for Telus will do it.
Shaw has provided a pretty good quality TV service and quite a few features such as FreeRange TV and free Shaw to Shaw telephone calling but their PVR firmware is generally poor and their channel lineup is missing a lot of HD content that other providers have. The excessively high rate increases every year have had me a bit unhappy with them for some time now. This last increase of $8/month for me is really testing my loyalty.
