We are on Shaw Wide Open 150, and when the tech originally checked our speed on his phone after the installation he was getting a solid 170. I, however, on my Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo couldn't break 118 in the same location of the house. As a (non-Shaw) tech myself, I was curious about this discrepancy as I had registered speeds on my very same phone at clients' as fast as 170. At the time I just let it go, since fast is fast, but I've grown more curious, especially since installing a d-Link DIR-850 as an access point at the other end of our house, connecting to it locally (as fast as 390 compared to 200 on the Hitron) and getting the advertised speeds... Here are SpeedTest.net results, connected to 5G within 5 feet of the WiFi radios:
Speed while connected to Hitron CGNM-2250 locally at 200 mbps (117) http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/3094973960
Speed while connected to d-Link DIR-850 locally at 390 mbps (150+) http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/3094979243
Can anyone shed light on this discrepancy and suggest changes to the Hitron configuration to better my connection with this phone?
Cheers and thanks!
