Seeing the ad for unlimited bandwidth with WideOpen 150 Internet - Are current subscribers receiving the upgrade in bandwidth or does this only apply to new subscribers of that level of internet service?
Hi ziggurcat ,
All Internet 150 subscribers (new and old*) are seeing unlimited bandwidth automatically added to their package. Please note my.shaw.ca bandwidth monitor may not show the new (unlimited) cap, but our bandwidth monitoring teams are not enforcing the old caps for these customers anymore. Enjoy!
EDIT: Sorry for any misleading information from my original post; *Old customers under a grandfathered 2-year ValuePlan at the $79.90 rate remain with a 1 TB cap, but can be upgraded ($5/mo difference) to receive Unlimited Bandwidth.
i was told only customers who signed up after April 2017 eligible for for unlimited 150 is this true. Would I need to renew to get unlimited data ?
my contract started in august 2016.
I certainly hope that that was just a matter of being given incorrect information. I signed up late 2016 myself.
edit: however, I think what Phil above has said is more accurate to the situation. He certainly didn't specify that it only applied to people who signed up after April 2017.
People on some older service agreements might still be subject to caps. But note that Phil phrased it as "are not enforcing the old caps for these customers anymore".
So, if I am to understand what you're saying here: The caps are still there, but they're not being enforced (i.e. no penalty for even older, late 2016 subscribers if they happen to go over)? Not that I have even been close to the 1TB as it is...
