Wondering what the button is for. See red arrow in photo pointing at subject button.
Follow https://community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-4066#configure to access the advanced settings of your modem. Under Wireless > Basic Settings you'll see the following toggle :
This is the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button. It can be used as a alternative method for connecting devices to the Wi-Fi network. This wikipedia article explains WPS in more detail if you are interested: Wi-Fi Protected Setup - Wikipedia.
Thank you, I was hoping it was the WPS button. I am going to add a wifi extender to my network and will use the WPS to connect the two.
freda999 - for maximum security, disable WPS in the menu when you are done setting up. It's convenient, but not the most secure protocol. I believe you can turn it on and off from the user interface.
Where do I turn it off? This screenshot shows what I see when I go to Wireless and then WPS
The WPS feature actually isn't supported on the Hitron modem, and it should be disabled by default. So unless you have manually activated it already, it should be turned off.
OK how do I activate it? I need to add a wifi extender that I just bought online.
Awesome! Got it now, thanks.
