Total netflix integration is on my bluesky tv this morning. Thank-you Shaw, this is great!
Sweet. Any other update occur??
There was an update, but I'm not sure what it added/fixed other than Netflix.
Do we simply sign in to the Netflix or Crave TV for that matter apps, without having to register through a Shaw account.
The reason I ask is, now I am registered directly with Crave TV and Netflix. This allows me to login on a variety of Apple TVs in different locations. If I port my Netflix account to BlueSky, does that restrict the ability to view Netflix outside the BlueSky environment?
Update: After a little digging around, comparing BlueSky v Apple TV thinking about the household users, our needs between the two platforms all the various ways to view content I decided to integrate our the streaming options under BlueSky TV.
There were a few things to consider. Both platforms offer pretty good voice and text search options. In my scenario however if I was to further integrate the streaming platforms to take advantage of the voice search features fully under Apple TV, I would have to upgrade my Apple TV hardware. With BlueSky I have everything I needed now across all the available platforms including : Live TV, PVR, VOD, Movie Central, Netflix and Crave TV. The searching capabilities work every well and all I had to do was add Crave TV to my BlueSky account, at a reduce price no less. My wife uses more of the various content options and found flipping between Apple TV and BlueSky a little cumbersome and confusing. Now the viewing options are all in one place and easily found using BlueSky’s search functions.
Netflix was very simple to add to BlueSky and was done without any subscription changes. In fact I was advised by Shaw, we can’t subscribe to Netflix via Blue Sky but we can connect to the account for search purposes. That being said Netflix over BlueSky seems to work just fine.
Adding Crave TV was as simple as calling into Shaw, adding the service (at a reduced price) then cancelling my free standing Crave Account online.
One nice BlueSky add on would be is You Tube.
I logged into my Netflix account normally, just as I did on my Apple TV, etc.
It's a normal sign in authentication process and does not require you to use your Shaw ID or integrate through one. You would use your regular Netflix credentials.
In regards to your second question, we have that covered on our FAQ page below.

How does streaming Netflix on BlueSky TV work with the Netflix Stream Plans?
While it's awesome to have Netflix built in it's sad to see there is of course no 4k streaming. Guess it's back to using my tv to stream 4k hdr Netflix.
That's great and all, and I can sign in, get all the menus and everything, but nothing will play. I just get a black screen with the time bar, nothing happens. Is it doing this for anyone else or just me?
It's working for me. Have you tried restarting your box?
It seems it wasn't Netflix having a problem, but my cable is really old and is having some issues. Spent some time talking with a tech about other stuff that was happening, and things are being repaired so its all good.
Glad to hear you got it worked out!!
I am absolutely loving the Netflix integration!!!! It is so much more advanced than OptikTv. The Netflix library is within the BlueSky search results. So intuitive! Well done Shaw!

Which search results are you seeing Netfilx programming? I don't see it.
When a search for a movie (using voice command or typing it) it shows me "ways to watch". It includes Netflix.
For example I said "orange Is the new black" into the remote voice command (or you can manually search it ..whatever) and it brought up all the episodes and said Netflix was the way to watch. Hope that made sense. Just search for something (via the normal guide system) that you Know is on Netflix to test it out.
Don't know what box you had when you were with telus, but on my 4k box when you search for orange it brings up orange is the new black on netflix.

I guess I had a different box with Telus because Crave, Premium OnDemand Services (such as M Encore, hollywood suite, hbo), Netflix, NFB, NEVER showed up in the general program search feature. You had to go into the specific on demand menu or specific App to search programs exclusively for that service.
Thats cool that Telus offers that now! Are you still using Telus Optik 4K?

Yes, I switched in June. Not that I had any real issues with Shaw, just wanted to try something different, and save some money.
With full guide access to Netflix and Crave TV, BlueSky is very competitive with other IPTV solutions. Seeing the BlueSky guide in action, with Emmy winning voice search, is what sold me. Of course now users have to be discriminating about where their shows are stored, Live TV, VOD, PVR, Crave and Netflix... so many places to look.
I also have Netflix - but voice integration does not work once in Netflix. So if you want to watch something else in Netflix you need to push some buttons or leave Netflix and voice search from within Shaw and re - enter Netflix
