I have a home security system setup that emails alerts to me, using the shaw email system. I am on a shaw internet connection. If I configure my alerts with a url to my local machine with a link to the alert video, I get a 15 minute delay to the second between the time the mail hits the shaw server and when it is delivered to my email account. If I remove the url, then delivery is within seconds. So it appears a url inclusion is subject to some delay perhaps for scanning? I have verified this by looking at the raw email headers.
This happens wether I use encrypted or unencrypted smtp sessions. If I try to relay my mail to gmail and then forward it to shaw, gmail delivers it to shaw almost immediately, but then again, the shaw servers hold the email for the 15 minutes before delivering it to my account.
It would be nice to have the link in the mail if possible. Just wondering if there is a way around this.
