Bad WiFi security bug in DPC3848V

I normally keep the WiFi off on my Shaw Cisco DPC3848V since I use my own Netgear router to provide WiFi, but today I needed to test a mobile device on an alternative WiFi network, so I enabled 2.4 GHz WiFi on the Cisco, and made sure the security was set to WPA/WPA2 TKP-AES with a new password.

To my surprise my mobile device connected to the Cisco WiFi network when I selected it without prompting for a password. When I examined the WiFi network properties, it said Security: None. !!!!  I went back double-checked the Cisco router settings. Security definitely enabled, WPA/WPA-2 TKP-AES mode, with a new never-used-before password. I disabled the WiFi network, re-enabled it, and connected again from two mobile devices just to be sure. Same thing: Cisco router says that the network is WPA2-encrypted, mobile device says there's no security and connects with no password. My mobile device has full internet access without ever having entered the password.

Anyone care to guess what's going on here?
