Hello, my wifi connection is often slow, and I continually get low speed test scores. Any suggestions?
Hey mikeselby, I have to agree that 1.4 Mb on the download isn't all that great, even over wifi! Of course, you have to expect that wifi speeds will be slower than when directly wired into the computer.
Is there anything around the modem that would be causing wifi interference? Cordless phone, TV? We have a great page at WiFi Interference that should be useful.
But if you're not finding anything that could be messing with the wifi signal, the next course of action would be to test the modem on a different wifi channel. We have another great page at How to Change the Wireless Channel on Your Shaw Wireless Modem which steps on how to do that. Best wifi channels are 1, 6 and 11.

Microsoft had a big update recently that had a big impact for several users. I run a Dell computer and my speeds for the past few days are very similar to yours. My computer is almost unusable. I have checked MS users websites and I see lots of similar complaints but no solution. Thought I'd wait a few days and see if Microsoft makes any other updates that could correct this, but otherwise I am not sure what to do. My computer had been working fine until the updates. Are you running windows and did you have an update just before your speeds dropped.
