The USB modem is connected to a USB port on my printer. When I try to fax with the Epson Fax Utility I get error: Dial Tone Detection Fail. I'm not sure where the printer phone cable fits into the configuration. I'm using a single line from the DPT (Motorola SBV5220) which goes to one of the 2 jacks on the USB modem to computer. The other jack goes to the phone. Would I need a telephone line splitter or switch right out of the Shaw phone modem to USB modem and route one phone cable directly to the printer? I haven't set anything up with Shaw, other than phone service, and I don't know if I need to or if there a charge. Any advice would be appreciated.
