Twice today I have received messages from people I know, the message begins with 255); One of the friends sent another message saying the first one was not from her and thought her email had been compromised. What do we do now?
These emails are likely like the result of a virus infecting the computer of the person you received these emails from. Unfortunately you can't stop these emails coming to you (other than by blocking the sender). The person you are receiving these emails from will need to take steps to ensure that their computer is virus free. If you're concerned that you may also be infected, you should run a virus scan using your security software (you may already be using Shaw Secure). You should know that the only way that you may have gotten a virus is if you opened an attachment in one of these emails without having your security software scan the attachment first; if you did not open such an attachment, you probably don't need to worry about being infected yourself.
Don't open them, virius scan?
Other than that, there isn't much that can be done.
