I get an compression error message when I try to download some games from a website that I pay a monthly fee to. They tell me this happens when McAfee Rea-Time scanning is on. I have tried to turn it off but it won;t allow me to change it.
McAfee's Real time scanner will automatically turn back on in 15 minutes once turned off. There should be an option labelled: When do you want to resume Real-Time Scanning?
There will be 3 options: After a short time, After restart or Never.
See if you can change it to after restart and whether that makes a difference - if it doesn't resolve your issue you may have to re-install McAfee.
Let us know if this works!
This didn't work. I am using the McAfee offered from Shaw and it will not let me make changes to Real-Time Scanning. If I re-install McAfee from Shaw will it then let me make changes?
You should have had access to the same Real-Time Scanning settings as any other non-Shaw McAfee install. There's a page at How to Disable McAfee - wikiHow that will help find a way to access them. If they're still not there, I would recommend to uninstall McAfee and then go back into your My Shaw and install it again.
If you have to uninstall it, the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool is very useful.
