I can no longer get this channel , last two days / ?
Hey fkirner, thank you for the information. There is a known issue right now and we are working on a resolution. Please follow May 15 – Vancouver/Victoria | Television - Black Screen on KVOS MeTV - Outage [Resolved] for more information and updates. I appreciate your patience.

No channel 30 in Richmond for a couple of days. Get the intro screen with channel number and program info then screen goes blank with no sound.
Understand Shaw is working on it but cannot understand why only this channel is affected.
Same issue here in Vancouver West End since yesterday. This issue only every applies to channel 30, and has been ongoing for years.
Is this day three now with no METV?
Sorry for any inconvenience! Technicians are working on it again today.

What I'd like to know, Lance, is whether the technicians are local, or located remotely in India or the Phillipines,
As a communications tech, who has worked on similar systems, I find it odd that such a problem, does not have a quick solution.
I’m with Telus and it’s down for me as well, so it’s not Shaw’s fault.

It depends where Telus gets its feed. A while back, stations like KVOS (METV) came directly from Bellingham through the air and the signal was received at cable headquarters by Cambie and 41st in Vancouver. Then it was converted for cable distribution.
Don't know how it's done today but I imagine satellite signals are used. Even at that, I don't know if Telus has it's own signal or whether they get a feed from Shaw.
METV is up in Richmond as of Thursday May 17th at 10:30 am. Still up as of 12:20pm.
Curious as to what caused the problem. A couple of words of a hint from Shaw would be appreciated. Technical curiosity.
It's working now in Vancouver too. This is truly an early Christmas miracle.
