the reception here in east abbotsford is not good. the picture is snowy
I wasn't able to find any area issues that would be causing what you are describing. Are you using a digital cable box on this TV? Also, do you have more than one TV and if so are you noticing this on every TV?
I have a digital box and I only have the one tv. I unplugged the box and cables and put everything back. no change
If you bring up the digital guide on your cable box, do you notice that this and the other menus also appear snowy? Or do these appear clear, and you only notice the snowiness on the actual channels?
the guide is snowy too and all the channels are snowy
This is being caused by the cable connection between your digital cable box and your TV. Because the digital guide and menus are generated by the cable box itself, any time these appear snowy this is due to something between the cable box and your TV-- such as a loose connection here, or possibly a faulty cable. Please try completely disconnecting the cable which connects from the box to your TV from both ends, then reconnect again, to ensure that the connection is secure. If still a problem and you have another cable to try, please try connecting another cable from the box to your TV. If it's still happening after this, let me know.
I tried another cable to the box and same thing. I disconnected and reconnected everything. The box is new also.
Thanks for testing with another cable. Do you have a DVD player/VCR also connected to this TV, and if so can you confirm that it does not appear snowy as well?
I don't have dvd or vcr.
If you connect the cable from the wall directly to your TV (not using the cable box), do you notice the same problem? We can also have a Shaw technician check this, since you don't have anything else (i.e., DVD player or VCR) to test with. I'll be sending you direct message in case we need a service call, please check your Inbox at the top ^.
